Radio Assessment Breakdown

A set plan has been created by the lecturer to what will occur each week for the radio assessment. The breakdown below has been taken from the Seminar Handbook, for online reference. 



Week One: Introduction to Course   Location: Media Lab

Week Two: Master Control Location: Radio Studio
  • Package Idea Confirmed
  • Desk familiarisation
  • Hotkeys/Banks
  • Telephone Interviews
  • Voice Tracking/Segue Editor
Week Three: Packages/Portable Recording/Editing Refresher & Quiz Production. Location: Media Lab
  • Structure and Approaches to package production: Recording Interviews; Actuality / Wildtrack; Zoom and Marantz Recording; Editing in Audition
  • Quiz Production/Formatting
Week Four : News Bulletins.   Location: Radio Studio
  • Quiz Format confirmed
  • Running Orders, Editorial Policy
  • Writing speech copy
  • Bulletin Construction
Week Five: Radio Blog.  Location: Media Lab 
  • Using Blogger and Soundcloud
  • Writing exciting cues

Week Six: Presenting, Interviewing and Writing for Speech.  Location: Radio Studios
  • Vocal Address
  • Pace and attack for news bulletins and presentation
Week Seven:  Programme Synthesis Location: Radio Studios
  • Structure
  • Tightening Segues.

Week Eight: On Air Assessment.  Location: Radio Studio 
  • Your programmes will be broadcast live or ‘as live’ on THIS Radio.
